Or even better, maybe some maps could feature lots fast enemies with low hp, which would require faster firing weapons that dealt low damage, while other maps would have slower, bigger enemy ships that need heavy weaponry to brought down. ![]() A good way to solve this problem would be to increase the amount of statistics that they have: such as speed, weapon capacity (or even types of weapons that they can use, for example some ships could never use the sockwave, etc.), or the max level of shield they can install.Īs for weapons, they could tie in with the type of ship just like I mentioned earlier, or have certain enemies be more susceptible/resistant to certain types of damage. ![]() The main problem is that the only difference among them is the amount of hull armor they have so it's a no brainer as to what ship to choose. Yeah, I would have liked a bit more variation regarding to ships as well. My only problem is that heavy and normal missiles are pretty wimpy later on.Īnd then you have sidekicks and can pick those that do the best job compensating for weaknesses of your main weaponry. Megacannon is good if you want to hit stuff behind obstacles and it hits large targets multiple times, megapulse is actually excellent well rounded weapon that also murders swarms of enemies, even ordinary pulse is pretty reliable in terms of raw firepower. Still, if you have plenty of forward firepower you can try other rear weapons - rear missiles add really heavy firepower to forward/side angles where many enemies will be coming from when you're focusingon something with your main weapon, guided microbombs are pretty awesome, even though they clutter the screen, heavy guided bombs work very well in T2000 by delivering heavy hitting power to targets regardless of where they are, starburst may be neat if you want primarily protection from lateral collisions, rear megapulse adds excellent side firepower in addition to supporting forward firing weapon and firing to the rear AND it fragments and spams projectiles all around the screen and so on.įorward firing weapons are also not limited to just lasers and zica lasers. Sonic wave is so awesome because it is versatile - it has two different firing modes that allow it to function as either front support weapon or side/rear defensive one. It feels to me almost like a beta of the full game version of 1.0.Actually, there are quite a few valid weapon combos. If you missed Bubbles, you went straight on to Asteroid 1/2. I'm almost positive "DESTRUCT" didn't work, because I seem to remember trying it and being disappointed.ĩ. After beating Asteroid City and returning to episode 1, sometimes it would just automatically change your ship to the carrot.Ĩ. I played this sometime between 1994-1999, but almost certainly it was 95 or 96.ħ. There were only three episodes listed on the episode select screen. Instead, there was a different logo that I don't remember, and along with it, a short guitar riff.ĥ. I swear there was no Epic logo when the game launched. The Phoenix Device didn't shoot anything, rather, it looked like three glowing dots hovering around the side of your ship.Ĥ. Not the Zica Flamethrower, it looked like the flamethrowers in Deliani, but wavy.ģ. (As a kid I was confused by the name, as it conflicted with "Asteroid 2" from episode 1.) From there it looped back to Tyrian in episode 1.Ģ. After beating Deliani, I was able to continue on to the following levels in this order: Torm, Gyges, Gem War (Gyges secret level) and Asteroid City, but it was called "Asteroid 2". Tyrian 2.1 and Tyrian 2000 are definitely not it.ġ. The original Tyrian shareware ie "tyrsw1.zip" is close, but there are some key differences. Looking for the version of Tyrian I played as a kid. ![]()
